back home, but there are still a coulpe of photos from the mexico trip that I think might be worth posting. this one in particular is one that grew on me with the hand sticking out of the bus to help the woman lift up her market acquisitions into the bus home … wherever that is.

it is the last full day in Oaxaca, in Mexico, so I had to go back to the Central de Abastos, the wholesale farmers market here. and it was worth any minute i was there. can’t wait to come back here and go back to the market.

another photo from the Central de Abastos Market in Oaxaca. this is not the market right off the central plaza but more or less the wholesale market that is used by farmers from all over the region. the amount of stuff one can buy there is insane. there are mountains of mangos, papayas, onions, all kinds of herbs, chickens … and anything you could ever think you would need. between the inside and outside space the market covers probably two football fields and it is easy to get lost in the narrow walkways. but if you want to get a feel for the food culture of oaxaca it is a great place.

at the Central de Abastos Market in Oaxaca. walked around the market for three hours, was absolutely great. amazing place, amazing people, amazing produce. i wish i would live here so that i could take advantage of all the fresh and amazing food.

not that many mexico city photos left to post, soon i should switch to oaxaca but i assume few visit mexico city without watching this performance next to the amazing anthropology museum in the Bosque de Chapultepec park.

on the way to meet some friends we came across a baseball game by the local team … the tlalpan red sox. the team members proudly wore their Boston jerseys in recognition of last week’s bombing.

the ice delivery man, come and get it while it’s cold. he was delivering to all the little stalls in the Bosque de Chapultepec.
